About Me
-
From typing my name on Windows 3.1 at the age of 3, to building my own computer at the age of 11, to developing websites and iOS apps in my freetime; I fell in love with computers from a young age and have pursued my passion ever since.
I am a PhD Computer Science student at UMBC, having completed both my Bachelor's and Master's in 4.5 years in Fall 2014. In my Master's work I explored visual analytics and machine learning in user interfaces to develop an approach for learning and generating suggestions from user interactions. For my PhD, I am using visual analytics and machine learning to learn from unstructured and sparse temporal data with the intent of being able to predict future events and sequences in the data.
I also work as a Visual Analytic Scientist/Developer at the National Intrepid Center of Excellence (NICoE) at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD where I research healthcare data and apply machine learning and visualization techniques to learn patterns and trends from the data with the goal of preventive healthcare.
As my lifelong goal, I always look to further my knowledge and education. There is no boundary to what I can learn and accomplish.

I am currently exploring machine learning for sparse and unstructured temporal datasets with the goal of being able to predict future events and sequences in the data. In addition, I look to develop a visualization technique that will communicate the information embedded within these unstructured temporal datasets. My expected competion is 2017/2018.

Presented TBI-Explore, a continuation of my previous summer's work, to address the need for visualizing large sets of clinical data. Discussed the progress made from the previous summer and the work to be done in the future. Presented at NICoE (Walter Reed Bethesda).

Mobile Smartphone Apps for International Radiology
Spoke at the 2012 RAD-AID Conference, at Johns Hopkins University, about the need for mobile health resources in developing countries and demonstrated an iOS app, RAD-AID Knowledge Manager, meant to meet this need.

Presented the Clinical Data Visualization Framework that was developed under Dr. Jesus Caban to address the need for visualizing large sets of clinical data. Presented at CIDI (NIH), NICoE (Navy Medical Center), and the UMBC Graphics Lab.

Founded my own LLC to pursue personal projects.
- PillNote: Built, designed, and created an iOS/Android/WP8 app to allow patients with chronic medications to track their medication progress and aid them in remembering to take their medications while collecting data anonymously to further the research in the field of medication adherence.

- Developed an iOS app used by doctors, researchers, and other professionals in the medical field to stay up to date on medical journals. In addition the app user can track their cases/research and receive follow-up reminders.
- Developed a portal to make the application and survey process simpler and more efficient for RAD-AID members.
